SYPAQ Buys MTC AustralAsia
Consulting and systems integration company SYPAQ Systems Pty Ltd has agreed to purchase the business of MTC Australasia Pty Ltd a company specialising in Project Performance Management and Earned Value Management (EVM).
SYPAQ, founded in 1992 by its Managing Director George Vicino, provides consulting, systems integration and managed support services in the Defence, ICT, Government, Banking, and Mining sectors.
At the contract signing on 7 November, Mr Vicino said “MTCA is a perfect fit to what SYPAQ is about and where we are heading. Not only does it strengthen our consulting business in the Project Performance Management and EVM domain, but it will complement our strong track record in successfully delivering projects on-schedule and on budget.”
MTCA’s owner and Managing Director Stuart Wilson, who will remain with the business under a retainer arrangement, said “When I decided to sell MTCA I wanted to make sure that it went to a synergistic business with a deep level of expertise, a strong track record and solid branding in the Project Management domain, particularly in the Defence sector, and that’s why my first call was to George.”
SYPAQ will formally take over on 7 December and will retain MTCA’s staff and the MTCA brand, which will eventually be merged under the SYPAQ banner.
SYPAQ Awarded LRQA Management System Qualification
SYPAQ Systems Pty Ltd has been certified to ISO9001:2000 by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).
David Vicino, SYPAQ Systems CEO (pictured) stated “This was a rewarding process for the company that has further optimised our processes and business management systems that will ultimately benefit our customers. This certification is a reflection of the teamwork and dedication of the entire SYPAQ staff. The ISO Certification project was managed as an internal company project and had significant change management and communication challenges.
We believe we are a continually improving organisation with a defined structure and flexible business system that optimises our service delivery to Defence, broader Government and private sector clients. This achievement, coupled with SYPAQ’s rapid growth over the past 24 months sets an exciting platform to further grow the SYPAQ business where adding value to our customers is of paramount importance."

A Natural Synergy with SYPAQ
SYPAQ CEO, David Vicino, and AIPM CEO, Peter Shears, signed a formal strategic agreement to progress the profession of project management within SYPAQ.
“Project Management is core business to SYPAQ” said David Vicino.
“We investigated the industry groups and decided we had a natural synergy with the AIPM in many facets such as: the competency framework, professional development and industry best practice baselining. This corporate initiative will benefit our staff and our clients so it is a win for all parties concerned. The AIPM agreement, coupled with our Engineers Australia Professional Development Package, equips our staff with the best-of-breed business tools for project and client success.”
According to Peter Shears, AIPM will recognize SYPAQ as a major corporate member that is embarking on the process of becoming endorsed as a Project Managed Organisation.”
